This is a great way to get started with scythe mowing. Includes everything you need:
- your choice of a 60 or 70cm scythe blade,
- a durable metal snath with adjustable handles,
- a D-ring to attach the blade to the snath,
- a peening hammer and anvil, for maintaing your blade,
- a scythe stone and stone carrier with belt clip, for regular honing while you mow,
- a copy of our best Scything guide book with clear guidance for usage, technique, and maintenance
We offer this package together at a substantial savings compared with buying the individual products separately.
For blade length: longer lengths will be more productive mowing delicate or shorter vegetation (such as a hay field) and on flat areas, while shorter blades may be easier to work in tougher material (like goldenrod, for example) and/or on slopes.
SHW blades and snaths are made in Germany, the peening hammer and anvil are from Slovenia, and the stone is made in China. This kit may require some minor assembly.

This Starter Kit is absolutely worth every cent spent on it! I am from Germany and learned how to take care of fields and meadows with a Scythe from my grandfather and he'd approve of this kit (obviously, since it's German made!). The included book is so much than just a guide to scything, too. I slimed through it yesterday when the Kit arrived and I was excited about all the information included in the book! I highly recommend this Kit to anyone wanting to get in a more sustainable way of managing meadows, fields or native plant areas. The shipping was also super fast!

The order got here quickly and well packed! My only complaint is the tool to attach the blade was attached to the handle and was challenging to remove. Great quality product overall though.
